We have visited Settle, Anglesark and Bolton Abbey to name a few. During the summer we take weekly evening walks. We also like to put in a full day trip to Grassington and Wensleydale. If you would like to join us for a bit of fresh air and exercise keep an eye on the pew slip.
Pilgrimage Group
We are a varied group, mainly retired but not exclusively so. We belong to different denominations and faiths and enjoy each other’s company and visiting places associated with religion. Of recent years our trips have been within the UK making our bases at Kents Bank in Lancashire, Scarborough and Shepherds Dene in Northumberland.
Meditation Group
We meet fortnightly in the parish room, Tuesdays 2 - 3 pm for silent contemplative prayer. Our meetings begin with a short reading, some relaxing music and then the main part is a twenty minute silence, during which we repeat silently a mantra, to empty our minds of thoughts and to act as a focus. A mantra means simply a christian phrase, the one they suggest is "Maranatha" which means "come Lord Jesus". At the end of the silence there is more music to bring us back to reality and a closing prayer. We finish with a cup of tea and a chat. At present we are a small group, maximum ten people, but all are welcome to join us.
